Conversations & history

The sidebar​

Your conversations live in the sidebar, most recent first, with pinned ones in their own Pinned section at the top. Each gets an automatic title from your first message. Open a row's menu (the ⋯ button) to Pin or Unpin, Rename, Export it as Markdown, or Delete it. Select mode lets you check several conversations, or select all, and delete them in one go.

The eye icon at the top of the sidebar conceals chat titles: it blurs every inactive conversation so someone glancing at your screen can't read your history, and a title clears when you hover it. ⌘ ⇧ H (Ctrl ⇧ H) and Settings → General toggle the same thing.

Press ⌘ K (Ctrl K) to search your conversations, grouped by recency. Search matches titles and the messages themselves, both yours and the model's, and shows a snippet of the matching text; pick a hit to land on that message. The message index is built on your device from your encrypted history the first time you search, and is dropped when you lock or sign out; nothing about it is stored. Messages folded away by compaction are still searchable and are marked as such. You can also start a new chat from the same dialog.

Where your history is stored​

Conversation history is stored on your device, encrypted at rest — not on our servers.

Only you can read it — not us, not an operator (see Privacy & security). It stays in the browser where the conversation happened and doesn't follow you to another browser or device unless you turn on syncing, which shares your chats between devices through a folder or storage bucket you own, still encrypted, with nothing passing through our servers.

Deleting a conversation deletes it from your device and, if you sync, from your other devices too.

Long conversations​

Models have a limited context window, and longer context costs more per message. When a conversation gets long, ZeroSignal can compact it: earlier messages are summarised into a rollup and collapsed behind a marker in the thread. Click the marker to read the original messages; they're kept, but excluded from what's sent to the model.
